Rebecca Mireles Tejeda Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend joined the Lord on July 21, 2022. Rebecca was born in San Antonio on September 17, 1958. She attended Blessed Sacrament Academy and San Antonio College. An avid photographer, it was rare to see her without a camera in her hands. She loved to capture moments in nature and candid family memories as a reminder of life’s beauty. She also enjoyed gardening and trips to the coast with family. Rebecca had a deep commitment to serving her community of the Southside of San Antonio. She served as president of Five Diamonds Little League, as a proud Lion in the Harlandale Lions Club and volunteered for a variety of church groups including her own parish, Mission San Jose. She was a regular at senior centers where she and her husband would visit with people and listen to their concerns to find out how they could help. Her passion for education was instilled in her sons who both sought careers as educators. She was a PTA Member, and substitute teacher in Harlandale ISD and took on long term roles at Morrill Elementary and Collier Elementary. Rebecca was a mother of many, from her own boys, to nephews and nieces, to those that played in the neighborhood. She wouldn’t hesitate to make you a home cooked meal or show up having baked your favorite cake on your birthday. She embodied the lesson she learned from her father to always do right because, “with God at your side there is nothing to fear”. She did not hesitate to fight corruption in local government. Beyond her own advocacy, she lent her voice to encourage stewardship of the community by supporting quality candidates, and public servants. Together with her husband, she would give wisdom, prayers, and hours of hard work volunteering to guide those running. Rebecca loved expressing herself through art and writing. Though she could paint and do pottery, she was always on the go. Instead, she found her daily artistic expression with the variety of calligraphy pens she carried with her. Often reflecting on her faith and writing quotes of scripture she read that day. Hundreds of children have received copies of her handiwork on their Honorary Deputy certificates they received as safety patrols. You may even catch a glimpse of one of these on the wall of small businesses who supported the Constable’s Annual Safety Patrol Pizza Party over the last three decades. This barely scratched the surface of her service to others. Always a cheerful giver of her time and support. Rebecca was a woman of strong faith who served as a constant steward of the Lord’s word. She shared her love for the Lord and the scripture’s beauty by sending hundreds of personalized daily messages to others. Through these messages Rebecca helped bring comfort and guidance to so many. She is survived by her husband, Constable Ruben C. Tejeda, sons, Ruben James and Gabriel Jesse Tejeda, daughter in-law Clarissa Esparza Tejeda, mother Simona Mireles, sisters, Diane Fernandez, and Patsy Mireles-Moreno, and brothers Arturo Mireles and Roberto Mireles. Monday, August 1, 2022 - Visitation 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday, August 1, 2022 - 6:00 PM Rosary at Mission Park South. Event will be live streamed and shown on the outdoor screen to help alleviate the amount of people inside the chapel. Thank you for your cooperation in viewing remotely. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 - 10:00 AM Burial Mass at Mission San Jose A reception will take place at Blessed Sacrament Academy after the burial.
