Rita Esther Rubio October 13, 1966 - April 22, 2015 Rita Esther Rubio born on October 13, 1966 went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2015 at the age of 48. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Leandro and Delfina Mendoza and paternal grandparents, Robert and Gloria Alicia Rubio, and aunts, Dora Mendoza, Antonia Cerda. Survivors include her beloved parents Roger and Esther Rubio, sisters Ruth Anne Williams Carl and Rosalinda Greenawalt RobertNieces Makenna and Corynne Greenawalt, and other loving family members and friends. Rita was a resident of the San Antonio State Supported Living Center formerly the San Antonio State School for 33 years. Rita was our Angel on Earth and now she joins the Angels in Heaven where she sings the Glory and Praise of God. Although Rita could not speak, all who knew Rita were touched by her smiles and laughter. Unknown to many, Rita touched several lives and gave inspiration to others in pursuing careers in the Health Care Field with an emphasis in caring for Special Needs Individuals. One young teenager who cared for a young Rita was inspired to a 25 year career as a Teacher in Special Education. Ruth has pursued a 28 year career as a Teacher Assistant in Special Education and Rosalinda has a career as a Physical Therapy Assistant with an emphasis in Pediatrics. We are eternally grateful for the Care, Support and Love shown Rita by the Doctors, Nurses, Direct Care Staff and the Administrative Staff of the San Antonio State Supported Living Center. We are also grateful for the care provided Rita by the Doctors and Nursing Staff of the Nix Hospital in her final hours. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. with rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Rita's name may be made to the San Antonio State Supported Living Center Volunteer Services Council.
