Robert Louis Mace, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away in his home on March 27, 2025 at the age of 79. He was born June 11, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Burbank High School in 1964 where he met the love of his life Dorothy Franke Mace. They were married July 25, 1963. He joined the Navy Reserves during high school. Active duty was served on the U.S.S. Charles F. Adams July 30, 1964-July 30, 1966. Upon returning he went to work for CPS Energy where he retired in 2004 after 38 years of service. He was an active member for 45 years of the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. His service to his church included being a member of the Board of Trustees, a member of the BBQ committee, helping with the yearly Pumpkin Patch outreach and the local food bank distribution at the church. He enjoyed giving of his time to the youth of the church by coaching softball and helping at HEB youth camps. Robert surprised his wife with a wedding vow renewal for their 40th-wedding anniversary. For their 50th-wedding anniversary they enjoyed a cruise to Alaska. He loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in their different interest in life. He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy Mace, daughters Shelly Jones (Jeffrey), Melissa Lee (Joseph), five grandchildren Amanda Clark (Travis), Elysse Jones, James Lee (Sara), Kelsie Stewart (Nick), Jacob Lee, five great grandchildren Olivia Clark, Madilyn Stewart, Lane Clark, Baileigh Stewart, Elizabeth Stewart and a great grandson due in June. Also survived by his three brothers Harlan Mace (Cyndy), Larry Mace and Edward Mace. Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Pauline Mace and by his sisters Maggie Chatterly and Bertha Russell. Services Thank you to Crest Hospice Care and Amada Senior Care. We appreciate the kindness, compassion and care you gave Bob. Visitation will be at Mission Park North on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 5 PM -8 PM. Family and friends are invited to meet at Mission Park North to leave for the interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 9AM on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Interment is at 9:45AM. A celebration of life will take place at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church at 10:30AM on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 1902 Vance Jackson, San Antonio, Texas 78213.
