Robert Ancira Valdez, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, born in San Antonio, Texas, September 17, 1939, made his final journey to be with his Heavenly Father at 9:17am on September 17, 2024. He was welcomed to his forever home with open arms for his 85th birthday celebration! Robert’s success and determination was demonstrated in all that he loved, believed, and represented throughout his life up until his last days, as he fought Parkinson’s Disease over the 85th finish line. Most importantly, he was at peace when he departed. Robert loved sports growing up and throughout his lifetime. He broke records in swimming and short distance running while attending Horace Mann Junior High followed by track records at Jefferson High School, while running short distance, long distance and as anchorman on the relay team. He boxed with the San Antonio Golden Gloves and on the US Coast Guard Academy Boxing Team as a Super Featherweight and Featherweight. Over his adult years he played in many soft ball leagues, including a church league with son in law Tommy. He water skied with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play sports and activities including football, cheerleading, and attending Grandparents day events! He stayed active and fit into his eighties. Whatever he did, he gave it his best; from a businessman, and accomplished business owner of North Star Electric, a company he started in 1972 and built over the years, to being a faithful Christian. Robert was extremely excited about accepting Christ into his heart as a born again Christian and participated in many bible studies throughout the years. Robert (Roberto) was a loving friend and employer to many, sharing kindness, genuinely caring, and helping those in need without hesitating to put others before himself. Robert was a proud and loving father of four children, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Andrea Valdez, her children who he loved dearly as his own, Andrea Burkle and Geraldo Burkle; first wife, Johnette Gerbic, the mother of his children, Elize Pruske (Fabian), Charise Dahlgren (Tommy), Deborah Leopold, and Robert Scott Valdez (Ana); grandchildren Avery, Evan (Victoria), Savannah, Joshua, Travis (Kassidy), Taylor (Drew) and Corey; great-grandchildren, Jean and Weston; siblings, Salvador David Valdez, Tony Valdez, and Graciela Valdez Garza. Robert is joined in heaven with his parents, Jose Luis Valdez and Carolina Ancira Valdez; brother, Joe Valdez; and beloved grandson, Tyler Scott Gruendler.
