It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that the family of Robert “Bobby” Villarreal announces his peaceful passing on April 22, 2026, after an extraordinary 17-year battle with cancer. “Bobby,” as he was lovingly known by friends and family, was born on October 20, 1980, in Laredo, Texas, the city he called home and where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Bobby was a devout Catholic, and his faith was the foundation of his life. He trusted in God’s plan even in his most difficult days, and his belief brought him and those around him comfort, strength, and peace. His faith never wavered and was a source of light that shone through everything he did. Bobby was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, a proud supporter of the San Antonio Spurs, the Dallas Stars, and the Texas A&M Aggies. Bobby cheered his teams on through every season with unwavering loyalty. Bobby was also an avid fan of Formula One racing, WWE, and Fantasy Football, a pursuit that kept him engaged and connected with friends and family throughout the years. Sports were not just something Bobby watched; they were a language he used to bond, laugh, and share joy with the people he loved. His interests and passions will continue to spread through his family. He was a devoted uncle who adored his nephews and nieces, and they adored him right back. Throughout his life, Bobby was the family’s proud and beloved babysitter, the one the little ones ran to, the one who always had time for them. He loved playing video games, a passion he shared with many of his nieces and nephews, who grew up gaming alongside him. Family was Bobby’s greatest treasure. He had a gift for bringing people together and was the heart of every family gathering. Bobby proudly served as the family’s head cook, a role he cherished. Having learned the art of cooking from his family, he carried those traditions forward with love, making every meal a celebration. The aromas from the kitchen and the flavors of his cooking will forever be woven into the family’s most treasured memories. He built deep, lasting relationships with everyone he met, and his presence will leave a void that can never be filled. Bobby faced his illness with remarkable courage and quiet strength for 29 long years. He never allowed it to diminish his spirit or his deep devotion to those he loved. In his final year, his battle intensified greatly. He endured tremendous pain and suffering with a bravery that left all who witnessed it in awe. Bobby courageously completed six rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, fighting with everything he had. Ultimately, after giving every last ounce of his strength, his body could no longer sustain itself. He passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, having never stopped fighting or believing. Bobby is survived by his loving parents, Martin Villarreal III and Evangelina Villarreal; his brothers, Martin Villarreal IV and Rolando Villarreal; his sisters, Cynthia Villarreal and Dannette Villarreal; his sisters-in-law, Mayela Villarreal and Jennifer Garza Villarreal; and a cherished circle of nephews, nieces, and extended family who were the joy of his life.
