Celebrate the Life of Rodolfo Martinez June 1, 1930-February 6, 2021 “A dearly loved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend” Rodolfo Martinez born June 1, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas peacefully entered eternal life on February 6, 2021 at the age of 90. He is preceded in death by his parents, Evaristo and Matiana Martinez; and all of his siblings. Rodolfo is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Rita Mae Martinez, his 6 loving children; Albert Martinez (Rose), Gracie Padilla, Yolanda Carroll (Mark), Gloria Martinez, Michael Martinez, Rita Martinez (Michael Zamora); 7 wonderful grandchildren, 11 amazing great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, and lifelong friends. Rodolfo started his journey as a boy serving God as an altar server at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. This strong faith-filled foundation poured into the hearts of his children. He taught his family to place in this order: God, family, others and ourselves. His devotion and love for his wife and children was admired by all. Rodolfo served God and his country. He was an officer in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his duty with the military, he worked at Kelly Air Force Base for the majority of his life. Rodolfo was able to travel all over with his wife and children. HIs many stories of Japan, Korea, Hawaii, and Europe always were accompanied by some funny anecdotes. He loved loading up the station wagon to travel to see our California family. There wasn’t a missed opportunity to head down to Bob Hall Pier for the weekend for a fishing trip. Even though he never ate any of the fish fry; he still tried to catch the “big one”. The annual family reunions to the beach were always fun. Along with his love for sports- football, basketball, baseball, especially coaching softball. Rodolfo always cheered for the Fighting Irish, the Cowboys, the Spurs and Houston Astros at the World Series. Dad loved the short trips to the Casino and Valero Gas Station for “Scratch-offs”! His love for music and dancing always included a good tune from the Big Band era. Dad leaves us with a true sense of family and a million memories and traditions that will be cherished and continued forever.
