Roland Flores left this earthly plane to climb the stairway to heaven on October 30, 2023, at the age of 67. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 18, 1956, to Alex and Irma Flores. He is survived by his mother, Irma, his daughters, Ashleigh (Jason) and Kelsey (Carlos), three grandchildren, Jathyn, Everleigh and Elilah, his brothers, Danny (Rose Marie) and David (Yvonne), many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Alex Sr., his older brother, Alex Jr. and his niece, Whisper. Roland’s love of sports started as a young boy. He attended Holmes High School and graduated in 1974. He excelled at all sports, especially football, where he proudly played defense and offense and never left the field. He fondly recalled his time with his buddies during this season of life. Upon graduating, he moved to Houston and began working in the profession of collections. Roland later moved to Austin, Texas where he continued his career and started his family. He moved home to San Antonio in 1986 to form his own collection agency, building it from scratch into an extremely successful endeavor. He later launched his passion project, a fitness gym called Powerplex. His tenacity and grit in building these businesses was a true demonstration of the unparalleled determination and strength that was a testament to his character. Fitness and lifting weights were lifelong passions that he was thrilled to pass on to both of his daughters. For the last five years of his life, he committed some of his time to a part-time position at UPS, where he deeply valued the vast camaraderie he found among his coworkers. Roland was tough, resilient, relentlessly positive, a jokester, loyal with a strong moral code, an unmatched work ethic, and most of all a good heart. He enjoyed a good adventure and took his family on many trips over the years. No matter what life threw at him, Roland never lost his drive and will to succeed. He never gave up. He had many friends and knew someone everywhere he went, even to the most desolate corner of a Texas beach. As a father, he showed his unwavering love by always being there no matter the time of day or the difficulty of the situation. Roland was a special guy and will be missed by all who knew him.
