Roland Robert Rohan

Roland Robert Rohan passed away at the age of 93 to be at home with our Lord in heaven on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Born in Hobson, Texas, on February 12, 1933, he was the son of Dominic Rohan and Emma (Koenig) Rohan. Roland joined the Army in 1953 just in time to serve during the Korean War. His service to our country was one of the things that he was most proud of in his life. Roland met his wife Johanna (Keller) when he was 18. While on leave in 1954, Roland and Johanna were granted special permission to marry during Lent so that they could be married before he went overseas. They were married on April 3, 1954. Together with our Lord, they were able to enjoy each other’s love and companionship for the next 69 years until Johanna’s passing on February 20, 2024. When Roland’s time with the Army was over in 1955, he was able to find employment with the Coca Cola Bottling Company in San Antonio. This job allowed him to have a career in refrigeration (he worked on Coke machines, soda fountains, etc.). This career provided the income he needed to buy a home in 1956, the same home that he lived in for the rest of his life and raised 6 children in with Johanna. Roland enjoyed building motorized model airplanes and would entertain all the neighborhood kids by flying the airplanes in the open field at the nearby elementary school. He also found he had a skill in fixing watches, pocket watches, and pendulum clocks. He spent many an hour working on watches in the evening after coming home from work. Roland had a skill in fixing just about anything, whether it be mechanical, electrical, plumbing and any type of refrigerated appliance. A service man was never called for anything. Roland could fix it all! In his relaxing moments, a beer was his choice of drink! He and Johanna, and many times other family members and friends would enjoy some cold “Pearl” beer together. In addition to his parents and parents-in-law, Roland was preceded in death by his cherished wife Johanna (Keller) Rohan, his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence Rohan and his wife Peggy, his brothers-in-law, Herman Kneupper and Grayden Scooter Meyer, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn (Keller) Duderstadt and Pelo Tom Duderstadt. Roland Rohan is survived by his sisters Edith (Rohan) Kneupper, Evelyn (Rohan) Meyer, and all his children, Bill and his wife Erline; Janice Murphy and her husband Ron; Mike and his wife Peggy; Rudy; Doris Neilson and her husband Bill; John and his wife Treacy; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Rosary service with be at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, August 31, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church. The Graveside Service will follow at 01:30 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
