Ronald Wayne Havelka passed away April 18th 2023 at the age of 58 after a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Mission, Texas and was the last of four children born to Louis & Betty Havelka. Ron worked in the construction field most of his life. He moved to Rockport, Texas in 2008 and lived in a 100-year-old historic home which he restored in 2010 with the help of his siblings and nephews. Ron’s hobbies included fishing and hunting with family and friends. He was also known for his love of cars and trucks. He could identify makes, models and years of vehicles with just a glance, and would often share that knowledge with you when riding with him (whether you cared or not). Ron is survived by his daughters Christina Mojica (Rob); Katy Havelka; his precious granddaughter, Olivia Mojica; sisters Beverly Fatherree; Brenda Durand (Danny); brother Louis “Rusty” Havelka, Jr. (Cynthia); nieces and nephews Tom Fatherree; Kathy Granger (Brett); Louis “Trey” Havelka, III (Katrina): Kyle Durand (Ashley); and Caitlyn Havelka. Ron adored his daughters Christina and Katy, and was so very proud of their accomplishments and careers. His relationship with them grew deeper throughout the years. He was absolutely enamored with his granddaughter Olivia. He loved seeing her every chance he could when he was in San Antonio undergoing chemotherapy treatments. She was the apple of his eye. He was also loved by many of his nieces’ and nephews’ friends, often times accompanying them on trips to Vegas and New Orleans. He was also very close to his cousin, Jack Ashley, who was like a brother to him in many ways. His family would like to thank all of the physicians, nurses and staff of Methodist Bone and Marrow Transplant Center, and Methodist Hospital San Antonio for their amazing care, dedication, compassion and support over the last several months. We are forever grateful for each and every one of them who took care of Ron throughout his treatment. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 29th at 1:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport, Texas followed by a Celebration of Life at WILAT Ranch, immediately following. All friends and family are welcome to attend. Please bring your favorite memory of Ron to share at the celebration.
