ROSAURA G. DOMINGUEZ DECEMBER 21, 1914 – March 1, 2016 After spending 101 years in this world, Rosaura G. Dominguez was called by the Lord to her eternal resting place on March 1, 2016. Born in Mexico, Rosaura came to this country with her widowed mother and two older siblings where the family settled in San Antonio. She married Ricardo Dominguez in 1937, a union which lasted 56 years. In 1950 when her husband lost his eyesight, she went to work as a seamstress at Frost Bros. Department Store on Houston Street. She ultimately became a fitter and then supervisor of the Alteration Department. Her sewing talents were utilized by many prominent women in the San Antonio area, including Lady Bird Johnson. In spite of being a working mother, she always found time to support and encourage her children in their school endeavors. Too, she was a devoted wife to her husband, serving as "his eyes" when he became blind. She was truly proud the day she became a citizen of the U.S. At her church, St. Mary Magdalen, she was a member of the Guadalupanas and also a volunteer at the Senior Nutrition Center. Rosaura was preceded in death by her husband; her infant son Juan Antonio; her sisters, Maria Guzman and Eva Martinez; her brothers Antonio Garcia, Gumecindo Facundo, and Mariano Facundo; and her grandson, Jacob Dominguez. She is survived by daughters Elvira Ortiz Carlos of San Antonio and Mary Ann Byrd Bill of St. Louis, Missouri, son Carlos Dominguez Gayle of Eureka, California, and step-daughter Amelia Clem and her family. She is also survived by grandchildren Sonya Fullerton Jim and Michael Byrd Tracy. Additional survivors include: great-grandchildren Andie Fullerton, Carlos Fullerton, Lyra Byrd, Carlos Byrd and Tyler Dominguez as well as great-great grandchild Isaac Taplin and numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to give special thanks to the following: Rose Clem, her caregiver for more than two years; Gerry Walker and her staff at Walker Solutions Assisted Living Facility where Mom resided happily for the past three years; all employees of Embrace Hospice; nephew Claudio Facundo and wife Adeline for their frequent visits; and Jose Villanueva-Delaney for taking communion to Mom every Sunday. Rosaura was the sweetest, kindest person who absolutely never said an unkind word about anyone. She was a devout Catholic who completely trusted in the Lord; her favorite saying was, "It comes from above." The needs of her family always came first. She was truly a gift and a blessing to all who knew her. Her legacy will live in the hearts of everyone she knew. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1710 Clower St., San Antonio, Texas 78201. Funeral Services Visitation with family is scheduled on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. at Alamo Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be offered on Thursday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
