Rose Esther Brooks, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Bulverde, Texas, on October 27, 2025, surrounded by family and love. Born on July 27, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, to Aurora Rivera Soto and Mariano Alonzo Soto, Rose grew up on the southeast side of San Antonio in a home her father built near the Southern Pacific Railroad, where he worked for nearly 30 years. Rose lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her devotion to family, her faith, and her lively spirit. She married the love of her life, Don Raymond Brooks, and together they built a lifetime of memories—traveling the world, sharing laughter, and embracing every adventure side by side. Rose’s life was filled with small joys and big love. She was known for her sharp wit, her endless affection for her pets, and her unmatched skill at finding a deal. Whether it was at Kohl’s or Ross, Rose could charm her way into a coupon or a 30% discount with a smile and a story. She loved a good meal—especially Mexican food with a margarita, or spaghetti and meatballs as a close second—and she never missed an opportunity to enjoy dinner out with family. A proud and faithful Catholic, Rose’s beliefs guided her through life’s joys and challenges. She held strong convictions, both in her faith and her political views, and she never hesitated to share her thoughts with honesty and heart. She found comfort in prayer, laughter in conversation, and joy in the company of those she loved most. Rose is survived by her loving husband, Don Raymond Brooks; her daughter, Lorene Rose Moore Bothe, and husband, Richard A. Bothe Jr.; her grandchildren Zachry Lee Arrambide and wife Amy, Richard A Bothe III (Trey), Ryan Michael Moore and wife Marisa, and Natalie Moore Robinson and husband Camden; and her great-grandchildren Kaley Nichole, Alexsis Rose, and Kyndel Lee Arrambide, Tag and Hayden Robinson, and Theodore Moore. She is also survived by her sisters Connie Soto, Terry Rivera, Pat Redlin, and Ana Stefonowicz; her nephews Frank McSpadden and wife Amy, Albert Mancha, Dean Bowers; and her niece Cecilia Alvarado. Rose is preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael John Moore, Jr and daughter Darlene Ann Moore along with many dear family members who went before her. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Alamo Funeral Home, 624 N. Alamo, San Antonio, Texas 78215. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Mission Burial Park North, 20900 IH 10 West, San Antonio, Texas 78230. Rose’s family fondly remembers her love of music and storytelling. She adored Hank Thompson, Elvis Presley, and Vicente Fernández, and she never missed David Muir on the evening news. Her notebooks were filled with her humor and wisdom—phrases like, “The more people I meet, the more I love my dog,” and “God has protected me more times than I can remember.” Rose Esther Brooks will be remembered for her laughter, her strength, and the love she poured into everyone she met. Her legacy lives on in the stories, smiles, and memories she leaves behind.
