Rosemary Solis Johnson, lovingly known as “Rosie,” was born on October 20, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas, and entered into the presence of the Lord surrounded by her family on September 17, 2025. Rosie attended St. Teresa’s Academy before earning her Bachelor’s of Music Education in 1960 from Our Lady of the Lake University. That same year, she began her teaching career with SAISD, later moving to NISD where she joyfully taught for over three decades. She retired after 32 years, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, compassion, and a love for education that inspired countless students. In July of 1983, Rosie married her “sweet fella,” Dan Johnson. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. They served as deacons at Trinity Baptist Church and were active members at both Woodland Church and First Baptist Church. Rosie’s faith was steadfast, and her kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Beyond her devotion to her family and church, Rosie was a proud San Antonio Spurs fan who cheered faithfully for her beloved “Big 3.” Her joyful spirit and enthusiasm for life were contagious. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Esther Solis, and by her husband of 33 years, Daniel Clay Johnson. She is survived by her children: Benjamin Benavides (Jackie), Laura Hamilton (Kent), Lisa Benavides-Nelson (Tim), Linda Coy, Daniel Johnson Jr. (Corrine), Darren Johnson (Victoria), and Donna Norman (Eric). She was a cherished grandmother to 19 grandchildren and a growing number of great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love. A note of thanks to the wonderful staff at Adante Assisted Living. And a special thank you to her personal caregivers Veronica, Althea and Valerie for making Mom's last nine months full of laughter and joy. Visitation will be Mission Park South on September 22, 2025 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Mission Park South on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 12pm. Burial will immediately follow. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on through the music, love, and faith she shared so generously.
