Roy Mauricio Frias

Roy Mauricio Frias was born on April 15, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, to Leonardo and Francisca Frias. He went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2026, at the age of 75. Roy lived a happy and enjoyable life. He graduated from Burbank High School and was among the few students who attended St. James Catholic School from 1st through 7th grade. He was a simple man who enjoyed life, BBQing for family at special events and listening to music that included polkas, Mexican and the occasional boot scoot and boogie. One of his greatest joys was working at the AT&T Center for 20 years where he opened doors, and welcomed guests to include the San Antonio Spurs players, management, and officials, he also, became a familiar presence at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. While loving these positions of work, secretly Roy was a true fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. Roy moved to Watsonville, California and worked at the Jolly Green Giant plant and after a few years he moved back to San Antonio and was employed by Bexar County as a county wide heavy equipment operator, where he retired after 20 years. Roy’s military career was equally memorable. He joined the United States Navy in August 1969 at NTC San Diego, California, where he graduated as Series Honor Man, a distinguished honor. He was later assigned to Long Beach, California, aboard the USS Bainbridge DLG-25 Nuclear Destroyer, which served as an escort ship to the USS Enterprise CVA-65. Roy completed three Western Pacific tours to Vietnam, proudly serving his country. While stationed in Long Beach, Roy became a regular at a bar and grill called Out of Bounds. There, he quickly made friends and met members of the Long Beach Chapter of the Hells Angels. His love of motorcycles and outgoing personality earned him an official place among them. Roy later served as part of VFW Commander Post 7108 from 1985 to 1986. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife Aida G. Frias, whom he married in 1975, his beloved brother Leonardo M. Frias, Jr. and his wife Thelma, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and dear friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Brookehill Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. We will meet at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:20 a.m. where military honors will be rendered at 11:30 a.m.
