Roy Nielsen passed away into God's Loving Arms peacefully surrounded by his family on October 28, 2014. Roy was born February 7, 1928 and lived on the Northwest side of San Antonio most of his life and loved his hometown with a passion and felt it was the center of the universe. He worked for Southwestern Bell for 42 years serving in many roles from lineman, installer and working with data services. In retirement, he owned and managed rental income property in Bulverde. Roy served in the Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany and other European countries serving as a lineman to aid in building communication lines. Roy was well known for his love of conversation. His family and many friends will miss the countless stories he told about his life's experiences. He was a very generous man and would help out with the shirt off his back if necessary. Roy's sense of humor will be missed by all that knew him. We are sure the story-telling has already begun in heaven with all that are gathered there. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kathryn Janelle Nielsen, his daughters Karen and her husband Scott Brown, Houston and Lari and her husband Don Ransleben, San Antonio. His grandchildren are Christian Brown, his wife Karen, Hollie Sailors, her husband James Sailors, Houston, Linsey Laws, her husband Nakee Laws, Boerne, Jon Ransleben, San Antonio, and Melissa Perry, her husband, Lee Perry, Hurst. Great- grandchildren: Jadon, Joah and Carys Laws; Ashlyn and Tyler Brown; Emma and Lillie Sailors; Logan Ransleben and Baby Perry set to arrive in January. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Lars Christian Nielsen and Myrtle Nelson Nielsen and his siblings Dorotea LeCrone, Henry Nielsen, Albert Nielsen, Chris Nielsen, Virginia Stark and Betty Scholl. Pallbearers: Scott Brown, Don Ransleben, Christian Brown, Jon Ransleben, James Sailors, Nakee Laws, Lee Perry and Greg Blake. Honorary Pallbearer: Sonny Stark Donations in his memory are requested to the charity of your choice. SERVICES A Visitation will be on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a Reception at the Funeral Home. The Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45 P.M.
