ELIZONDO Rudolph N. Elizondo, born June 6, 1917, whose boundless love inspired this earthly world, joined the God that inspired him on Sunday May 22nd at the age of 93. His heart's first devotion was unmistakably Ella, grateful for each of the 72 years of marriage he was blessed to have. A San Antonio man from beginning to end, Rudy served his country through the civil service as a quality control specialist for 39 years, giving him the means to accomplish his primary goal, raising a beautiful family. His belief was that family was the center, and his amazing children; Ronnie, Robert, Charlie and Martha are the return he received on his loving investment. He saw and supported each of his children through Catholic schools, from kinder to college. As his son Robert served in Vietnam, he found his way inside a church each day until his safe return. And he faithfully enjoyed sharing mass with his Saint Matthew's community as a Eucharistic minister for countless years. A true craftsman, you could often find him making birdhouses, airplanes and dollhouses for the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who moved him. He made enough and made them with enough love to last us a lifetime. His wife, Ella, will miss him fondly, as will his children; Ronnie Elizondo and wife Polly, Robert Elizondo and wife Anna, Dr. Charlie Elizondo and wife Sharon, and Martha Gomez and husband Ron; his 10 grandchildren Chuck Elizondo and wife Aurora, Colby Elizondo, Mike Elizondo, Steve Elizondo and wife Luisa, James Elizondo and wife Trisha, Vanessa Becker and husband Andrew, Gregory Gomez, Jeffrey Elizondo and wife Kate, Kenneth Elizondo and Sarah Elizondo; and his 10 great-grandchildren Francisco, Logan, Carlos, Lane, Evan, Caitlin, Noah, Nathan and two yet named. His visitation will be held at Saint Matthew's Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. with the prayer of the rosary at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Saint Matthew's Catholic Church on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
