Sam Kong Eng peacefully departed from this world on July 5th 2016 for heaven to join with his loving wife Rose, who proceeded him on March 3rd 2011. Sam was survived by Betty Chinn, Alice Yee, Mamie Wong, Kung Ng and Mary Jo Lew; children James and Debbie Eng, Amy and Roy Low and Bob and Angela Eng, grandchildren Jeremy and Jennifer Eng, Jamie and Steven Rungaitis , Keith Eng, Janna and Stephen Fendley, Kadie and Coleson Cowden, Jessica and Nathan Low, Brian Garcia, Rachel Low and great children; Dylan Eng, Felicity Fendley, Ryan Eng, Andrew Rungaitis and Alesksia Fendley. Sam was born in San Antonio, January 20 1923. He attended Texas A&M, served in WW2 and retired as a major in the Army. His outgoing nature prompted him to open his own insurance agency and "Oriental Imports". He was known for his generosity, and how he cared for his family and friends. He encouraged his children to work hard and allowed them to follow God's leading in their lives. Janna Fendley granddaughter Our Grampee when home to be with Jesus this morning. I have learned so much from this man about what it means to be generous and sacrificial for my family. He was constantly looking out for our best interest and making sure to ask us if we got enough to eat everyday even into our adult years. Whenever we showed concern for him he always told us not to worry and instead directed the question towards us. He was stubborn, yet gentle and loved his grandchildren well especially the great grandchildren What a blessing that my children were able to meet and love this man who was such a pillar in our family and who left such an amazing legacy. I'm so thankful that we do not weep as those without hope…because our hope is in Jesus who has made a way for us beyond the grave. We miss you so much Grampee, see you soon. Jennifer Eng granddaughter Heaven welcomed one of the most faithful, loyal, and stubborn men I've ever been blessed to know in my lifetime. He left an incredible legacy, but has been reunited with his beautiful Rose. He served his Lord, his country, and his family loyally, selflessly, and resolutely. May Heaven be full of coffee, Chinese buffet, and Dum Dum suckers and countless deer and elk to hunt, Grampee. You will be missed and fondly remembered by so many. My boys will carry on your name proudly. We will be celebrating the life of Sam Kong Eng at the First Chinese Baptist Church 5458 Prue Road, San Antonio at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16th, 2016. In lieu of flowers, please give gifts to the church in memory of Sam K Eng.
