Samantha G. Ortegon, born July 20, 1971, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2020 at the age of 49 in San Antonio, TX. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years Isidro Ortegon, Jr.; mother, Diana Ortiz (Joe Ortiz); father, Joe Henry Gomez; daughters, Selena Ortegon (Andrew Rodriguez), Savannah Ortegon; sisters, Alison G. Mora, Diana DeLaCruz (Sonny), Carry Thomas, Jennifer Eskridge, Victoria Gomez, Evangeline Gomez; brothers; Joe Ortiz, Jr. (Eva), Bruce Lee Ponce; in-laws, Isidro and Beatrice Ortegon; sister and brother-in-laws, uncle, Daniel Gomez; Aunt Rachel Ramirez; nephew, Rudolfo Robles, Leslie Martinez, Audrina, Adeline; Rudolfo Robles, Jr., Armando Olivarez; Brady and Robyn Cortinas; her book club friends and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. Samantha Ortegon graduated from Lanier High School in 1989 where she met her husband Isidro Ortegon. They married at the age of 21 and spent 28 beautiful years together. They shared a love that words cannot describe but you felt when you basked in the presence of them. The love she had for her daughters was bigger than the moon and back. When you saw Samantha you saw her daughters right beside her. She lived for her family and making memories with her little "monkeys". She was a certified hairstylist and the families most loved hair dresser. She had the most caring hands when she would cut hair, and the only one to touch the families hair. When she wasn't cutting hair, she was drinking wine with her sisters and her mom, laughing and giggling away. She was laughing to the point of crying with her other half Alison. When she was home relaxing, she was always happy when her son-in-law Andrew made sure to open up a bottle of wine and bring out the board games to bring the family some much needed entertainment. She loved to have paint nights with family and other bestie Becky. Most days she would constantly catch up with best friend Margaret over the phone. When she didn't have a glass of wine in her hand she had her books and phone; talking to her book club friends from all around the world! She is a published author of the book Cutting Loose Ends and was working on her second book with her Editor and uncle Daniel. She was a dedicated wife, mother, family member and overall blessing of a person. Our mom was the most loving and caring angel that walked the earth. Anyone she crossed paths with she made an impact and left a memorable impression. Her smile would light up the room and her laugh was so infectious you couldn't help but join in the heartwarming moments with her. She would make everyone's birthday cakes even when her arthritis would flare up; she always put everyone first. She was God sent, to make our lives beautiful and so full of happiness. When you wanted advice you knew to go to our mom. She was the best person to be straight forward in the most nice and polite way. She was the one you cried to about anything, the one you shared any type of conversation with, she was the one most depended on. As heartbreaking as this is for our family, we find peace knowing she isn't suffering through any more pain. She fought so hard like the true strong woman she always showed us to be. She will be forever missed and never forgotten. We love you so much mommy, to the moon and back. - your girls I love you so much my lady. - your hubby A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Due to Covid 19 a 40-person maximum will be allowed in the chapel. Other attendees may view the celebration on the outdoor screen or live streamed. You may contact the family for more information.
