Sarah Jean Heil Anderson passed away July 20, 2011 as the result of a stroke. She died peacefully surrounded by loving members of her family. She was born June 16, 1922 in San Antonio, Texas. Sarah Jean was a 1940 graduate of Brackenridge High School and Attended The University of Texas and Southwestern University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. At the end of World War II, Sarah Jean married Jennings Anderson, her beloved husband for 61 years. Jennings was a Texas A&M athlete so both were avid Aggie fans. Sarah Jean enjoyed a life filled with activity. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Church. She served in the Women's Society of Christian Service, the Bluebird Auxiliary at Methodist Hospital and was a charter member of St. Andrews Methodist Church. Sarah Jean served as President of two Ladies' Golf Associations and also loved playing bridge. Her Tuesday Bridge Club was composed of longtime friends who played together for sixty years. She and Jennings loved to travel, and were fortunate to have visited most of the United States and many countries abroad. Among Sarah Jean's many talents were being a great cook and fabulous hostess. Most important was her devotion to her family; not only her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but extended family and friends she brought into the fold. She was beloved by all and will be greatly missed. Sarah Jean was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pauline Heil; her first husband, Jimmy Knight who gave his life for his country in WWII; and her second husband, Jennings Anderson. She is survived by three daughters: Carol Jean Salkeld and husband, Joe, of Boerne; Linda Kay Bowman of San Antonio; DeeAnn Wilson and husband, Scott, also of Boerne; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Vukasin; Erin Bradley and husband, James; Stacie Wright and husband, Johnny; Bo Bowman and wife, Beth; Brandon Bowman and wife, Jawina; Amy Wilson and Courtney Wilson; ten great grandchildren; her brother, William Heil, Jr. and wife, Betty; and many nieces and a nephew. SERVICES A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Boerne, 205 James Street, Boerne, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Boerne, Building Fund, 205 James Street, Boerne, Texas 78006.
