Sarah Santos, a beacon of kindness and grace, was surrounded by her children, Linda, Ed, and Bobby when she passed away peacefully on January 29, 2024. Born on May 24, 1929, to Frutoso and Concepcion Elizondo, Sarah grew up with her siblings Ismael, Abel, Rudy, Raul, Mary Louise, and Becky, in Lavenia, Texas, a town that remained close to her heart throughout her life. Sarah married Edward Santos Sr. in the summer of 1947 and together they raised three children and grandchildren who brought joy and pride to Sarah’s life. Always giving of herself, Sarah was one of the first volunteers at Southwest General Hospital in San Antonio, served as a room mother for her granddaughters’ classes, acted as caretaker for family, kept meticulous financial records, and always made time for anyone who called or stopped by. Sarah was an angel on Earth often arriving or calling in a time of need. Sarah was known as “Memo” to her family and was a constant presence that shaped our belief in unconditional love and the importance of family. Sarah is preceded in death by her husband Edward Sr, brothers, and parents. Sarah is survived by her two sisters and brother-in-law Mary Louise and Joe Palomo, and Becky Campos; three children and spouses, Linda and Ruben Juarez Jr. , Edward Santos Jr, Bobby and Vanessa Santos; grandchildren Lisa Bielefeld, Laura and Rob McBee, Sandee and Marty Goodrich, Edward Santos III, Ruben and Megan Juarez III, Alyssa and Hector Hidalgo, and Matthew Santos; great grandchildren Kelsi and Austin Morales, Brandon Bielefeld, Declan McBee, Edward Goodrich, John Goodrich, Blaise McBee, Brecken Goodrich, Aria Hidalgo, Josiah Hidalgo, Jaiden Hidalgo, and Jude Juarez; great-great grandchildren Karsyn Morales and Kinsley Morales; and many loving nieces and nephews. Nothing was better than going to Memo’s house and being embraced by her love and attention. The family will gather to honor Sarah’s life with visitation at Mission Park South, 1700 SE Military Drive, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, 5:00 pm - 8:00pm. Then chapel service on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 10:00am with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 am.
