GONZALES Sherri Lynn Gonzales. On September 26, 2009, we lost a person who made the world she lived in a special place. She was a mother, a friend and someone who had a special place in her heart for all who she felt did not have a life as good as hers. She loved her family and derived great pleasure in seeing her son participate in baseball. She embraced all her. family's achievements and appreciated life for its simple rewards. She loved spending time with family at family gatherings and holidays. Surrounded by her family and loved ones, Sherri Lynn Gonzales lost her arduous battle with colon cancer. During the time she fought against the disease she demonstrated tremendous strength and determination that was almost out of character for her laid back manner. Even after the onset of the disease she lived her life richly. She went on a cruise with her family. She took a trip to Phoenix where she discovered the beautiful red rocks of Sedona, Arizona. She went to numerous baseball games and attended every family function even though her . health was failing. She enjoyed sunsets and cookouts and her favorite pets. Sherri also cherished spending time with her daughter and was so proud of how she stepped in to help during her illness. She was born Sherri Lynn Kerry in San Antonio, Texas on May 24, 1965 and spent her life living in the area. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and attended junior college here in San Antonio. She chose being a wife and mother as her full time vocation. She worked briefly during her illness to help pay her mounting medical expenses. In 1986, she married the love of her life, Ernest Gonzales. We would like to thank everyone for the support they provided to our family. Special thanks to Dr. Kathy Grove and Dr. Jesse Medellin, the wonderful staff at Cancer Care Center and the wonderful care given to Sherri at Vitas Hospice. They are truly angels on earth. Sherri is survived by her loving husband Ernest, who stood steadfastly by her side and her son Evan and daughter Stephanie who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her mother and father , Pat and Patricia Kerry , her sister Kristi Pennington, sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Roland Vela, numerous uncles and aunts, nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her grandmother, Cleo Kerry and her precious pets. A memorial service with family and friends will be held Saturday October 3, 2009 at 12:00 PM at Mission Park North Pastor Carl Huffacker officiating.
