Shirley Ann Wessels Dunn passed into Jesus’ loving arms peacefully surrounded by her family on January 19, 2024. Shirley was born on June 4, 1939 to Wilbert and Dorothy (Jones) Wessels in Karnes City, Texas. She was preceded in death by both parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Peter Dunn, their daughters, Cheryl Bridges (Larry), Sandy Cordell, Lisa Cain (Steve), all living in the San Antonio area. Shirley loved being a Grandma and thoroughly enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, Steven Bridges (Beth), Heather Bonnet (Andrew), Aaron Cain (Aubrey), Zachary Cain, Scarlett Cordell (Diego), Caleb Cain, and Levi Cain. The grandchildren will always remember the amazing bean and cheese tacos Grandma made for them by request. And when life was just getting fun, along came the great grandchildren, Jackson Bonnet, Elise Gonzalez and Sophia Bonnet. Shirley was very involved with her beloved First Assembly of God Church, San Antonio, where she was a member for 80 years. She loved teaching the next generation of girls through Girls Ministry for many years. She was truly a Titus 2 woman who loved instructing girls and mentoring women about the love and faithfulness of Jesus. She was very active in the Gideons International for over 54 years. Pete and Shirley worked together to distribute the Word of God around the world. Shirley held many positions with the Texas State Gideons, including State Auxiliary President all while staying very active with her local San Antonio Southeast Gideon Camp. Shirley will be truly missed by her entire family. Thank you to her sisters and brother, Helen, Dottie, Sonny and Pam, all their spouses and children, and so many friends, for your love and support through the years. Shirley loved her family and friends with her whole heart. Whether it was a large extended family Christmas, a small Easter gathering or just an ordinary day, Shirley made everyday extra special for family and friends. Visitation will be 4-7pm, Sunday January 28 at Mission Park South, 1700 SE Military Dr. San Antonio, TX 78214. Committal service, 9:45am, Monday, January 29, Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Funeral service, 11am, January 29, First Assembly of God Church, 13435 West Ave, San Antonio, TX 78216.
