Shirley Jean (Tom) Mayfield born in San Antonio, TX on July 29,1934, went to be with The Lord on April 27,2023, at the age of 88 years. She is preceded in death by her husband D.C.(Sonny) Mayfield, parents Bruce and Lois (Walters) Tom, brother Larry Tom. She survived by daughters Molly Buckelew, Dana Reando and son-in-law Ronnie Reando. Grandson Stanton Buckelew, great-grand children Brook, Blair, and Rylee Buckelew, great-great granddaughter Kannon Buckelew, sister Mary Lou Maddox, special family friend Kelly Story, her Shih Tzu Marley and other loving family members and friends. With the love of her life and soulmate of 67 years, Sonny, they built a loving home for their girls. Shirley was instrumental to the success of Modern Liquid Feed and Fertilizer and their cattle ranch operation. Shirley took care of all the accounting, fertilizer licenses, and agriculture permits. Being a Mother was Shirley’s calling in life. She gave birth to two daughters, but was “Mom” to many others. Shirley was a lifetime member of the PTA(PTSA); being an active member for 20 years. The endless hours spent helping with Molly’s school activities included making uniforms, seeking out routine props and transporting Molly and her friends all over San Antonio. Working along side her husband Sonny, she followed with the same dedication for Dana and Ronnie with Bexar County 4H, McCollum HS rodeo club and TYRA. During all those rodeo years she did everything from holding the ruins of a horse while it was being saddled, to cheering Dana and Ronnie on in their rodeo events. Her grandson, great-grand children and great-great granddaughter were her greatest joy. All of them quickly learned “Mimi” would come to their defense should they get in trouble. A special trip to the Grand Canyon, making sure a favorite yellow dress was ironed and ready to wear, the “Little Piggy’s” nursery rhyme, making sure the refrigerator was stocked with Dr. Pepper’s and sour cream were just a few of the many things “Mimi” did for her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers: Stanton Buckelew, David Maddox, Clifford Newman, Tony Capps, Carlos Guerra, Kenny Wagoner, Greg Poth, Cirilo Arredondo.
