Sonia Fay (Oliver) (Blevins) Curbow, age 57, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13th, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Sonia was born on September 23rd, 1959 as the youngest of five siblings in San Antonio, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Adron and Elizabeth (Wiatrek) Oliver. Sonia was a 1977 graduate of Providence H.S. Sonia raised her loving daughter, Michelle (Blevins) Hadash as a single mom and worked tirelessly as their sole provider at H-E-B Headquarters, South Texas Regional Medical Center and Christus Health. Sonia was widely known for her love of exercise and was passionate about step aerobics and running. Fourteen years ago she began her battle with multiple forms of cancer and exhibited an unparalleled strength throughout her treatments, an unwavering love and trust in Jesus, and an unfailing devotion to her family. Sonia will forever be remembered by many as a loving daughter, sister and friend but most special and loved roles were as “Mom” and “Nana.” She was fiercely devoted to being present in her family’s lives and her impact and love will forever be treasured. Sonia never stopped fighting and ultimately found victory over cancer in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Throughout her life she carried the word of the Lord in her heart and her life verse was always Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Sonia was preceded in death by her father, Adron Oliver and is survived by her mother, Elizabeth (Wiatrek) Oliver (San Antonio), brothers and sisters, Jeff and Marilyn Oliver (Spring Branch, TX.), Scott and Jennifer (Oliver) Teel (Monument, CO.), Gerald Oliver (San Antonio) and Rob and Stefanie (Oliver) Walther (San Antonio), daughter, Michelle (Blevins) Hadash (Burleson, TX.), husband Victor Hadash III, granddaughters, Sarah and Eva Hadash and step-daughter, Lindsay (Curbow) Salinas (San Antonio), husband Mark Salinas and children, Blake and Abigail Salinas. A celebration of life service will be held at Community Bible Church (2477 N Loop 1604 E. San Antonio, TX) on November 22nd at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sonia’s memory to Community Bible Church, San Antonio, Texas.
