Stephen T. Villanueva was born on December 26, 1923 in Floresville, TX and went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2019 at the age of 95 in San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife Santos Reyes Villanueva; his parents Manuel and Virginia Villanueva; 3 sisters and 4 brothers; grandchildren Erika Villanueva, Larissa Villanueva, Amparo V. Davila, Monica V. Sandoval, and Casey T. Villanueva. He is survived by his daughters Mercy Longoria (John), Ruby V. Quezada (Samuel), JoAnn Sawyer (Bob) and Ernestina V. Ledesma (Ricardo); sons Frank R. Villanueva (Sylvia), Stephan R. Villanueva, Jr. (Amparo) and Hector R. Villanueva (Mary). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and by many other family members and friends. Stephen was married to Santos Reyes on May 20th 1945. Stephen also served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a Prisoner of War Guard Patrolman at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia and received the Medal of Victory and was Honorable discharged in December 23th 1946. Stephen was employed 37 years with the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department and was also Supervisor. Stephen was a very hard worker every weekend when he was off he would work on cutting neighbors and co-workers yards to make the extra dollar. Stephen lived his life by the Aesop’s Fable of “The Ant and the Grasshopper”, which he learned when he was in Elementary School. Stephen loved agriculture and farm life. He loved his gardens and animals more than anything. Stephen loved attending Atascosa Livestock Auction in Pleasanton, Texas with his sons. He raised pigs, cattle, goats, horses, poultry and especially those loud mouth roosters. This year he acquire the dog of his dreams, “Sarge”. A special thanks to his granddaughter Kimberly Villanueva for looking after her grandfather when family needed special time off and taking him to his doctor’s visits. And to his daughter Ruby V. Quezada who without her and her knowledge of geriatric and the love she had and will always have for her father Stephen, he may have not lived to the age of 95 years old. “Ruby, you made MOM and DAD proud, they made the right choice.” SERVICES Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Palm Heights Mortuary with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Procession will depart the funeral home after a Chapel Service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Palm Heights Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at First Memorial Park Cemetery.
