Susie Garza, age 84, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2024. She was born on July 8, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas to her parents Jose and Paula Perez. Susie’s journey of faith began during her youth through her unwavering dedication to the Hijas De Maria at San Fernando Cathedral. Her passion for following Christ remained prominent throughout her life. She shared a similar love for music. Susie blossomed in this during her time at Burbank High School performing with the marching band. After graduating high school, Susie embarked on a new chapter of her life when she and Gilberto married. Together the two started their family and she embraced the role of wife and mother. Susie took pride in being a devoted and supportive mother to her four children. Her family was her greatest joy. Susie took on many leadership roles in various parent organizations while her children were in school. She spent time on PTA and Booster Club boards, including serving as president of these organizations, at the elementary, middle and high school level. She enjoyed volunteering her time and talent to support the children and families in her community, their education, and the educators that served them. Her endeavors in education became a life-long passion that continues through her own children and grandchildren who became educators themselves. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, the loss of Susie is felt deeply by those who were blessed enough to have her in their lives. Her family and friends will keep her spirit alive in their hearts each day. Susie is survived by her husband of 62 years; Gilberto Garza, their beloved children; Gilbert A. Garza (Diana), Suzanne Arévalo (Philip), Elizabeth Garza, Joe Victor Garza (Lisa), her grandchildren; Marissa Nihill, Joseph Garza, Philip Andrew Arévalo, Josiah Victor Garza, Addison Jo Garza. She is preceded by her parents; Jose and Paula Perez, and her siblings; Aurelio Perez, Mavis Montemayor, and Joe Perez. Services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. with a rosary to follow at 9:30 a.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church. 1619 S.
