Theodora N. Herrera, 81, passed away peacefully in her home on July 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 29, 1945, Theodora was known for her fierce spirit, sharp humor, and deep devotion to those she loved. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, bingo and poker nights, shopping, and listening to Elvis Presley, Juan Gabriel, and Tom Jones. A creative soul, she made special holiday and fiesta shirts for friends and family, each one filled with her signature color and personality. She loved a cold Big Red, Easter Peeps, and watching the Home Shopping Network. In stressful moments, she was famous for her spirited “God bless America,” a phrase her family will forever cherish. Theodora showed up for her family in countless ways, including helping care for her nieces and nephews whenever she was needed. Above all, she adored her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank C. Herrera; her son, Frank Daniel Herrera; her parents,David and Lucia Navejar; her sisters Sylvia “Chepa”, Alice, and her brother David “Beaver”. She is survived by her brother Rick. She is survived by her daughter Mary Louisa Herrera Valdez-Gomez and husband Richard, and grandchildren Bianca Valdez and Estevan Valdez; her son George A. Herrera and grandchildren Ashley Villarreal and Seth Herrera; and her daughter Teresa L. Herrera and grandchildren Suzie and Dean Flores. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Audrina Villarreal, Cassandra Gonzalez, Uriah Gonzalez, and Xander Villarreal. Theodora’s bold personality, love for family, and unforgettable presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Pallbearers will be Estevan Valdez, Dean Flores, Seth Herrera, Eric Musquiz, Charlie Herrera and Angel Navejar. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15 ,2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, 1700 SE Military Dr, San Antonio, Texas 78214. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 907 W. Theo Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78225 with interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South.
