BROWN Thomas "Elliot" Brown, beloved husband, father and son, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 15. Elliot was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1966 in Kingsville, Texas. He attended elementary school in Kingsville before his family moved to Corpus Christi. He was a gifted student and went on to excel at CC King High School where he was recognized in "Who's Who of American High School Students." He attended college at Texas A&M University where he had a distinguished career as a member of the Corps of Cadets. He was the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, and a member of the elite Ross Volunteers. Elliot graduated with a BS in Building Construction in 1989. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers upon graduation. He earned his Jump Wings at Airborne School, and went on to serve with honor and distinction in Desert Storm. A military veteran from Desert Shield and Storm and service in Germany, Elliot was a leader Soldiers and Commanders admired and respected. He led from the front in every mission. When confronted with being left to secure 350 POW's only with his pistol, he found a way to keep them contained and "happy" with MRE's. When left to destroy 100's of pieces of Iraqi military equipment, he kept his Soldiers motivated and entertained by having "create your own explosive" competitions. He found a way to make Soldiers keep going when things got tough, always with a knack for making everyone laugh in the worst of circumstances. Elliot loved the military and treated his Soldiers as family, many times overwhelming Alison with frequent "military family" house guests. He earned numerous medals including the Saudi Arabian Medal for the Liberation of Kuwait, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and, his highest honor, the Bronze Star. After returning from Desert Storm, Elliot married his college sweetheart Alison Paige Neely and moved to his new station in Germany. He and Alison enjoyed travelling throughout Europe before returning to live in San Antonio. After leaving the service of his country, Elliot enjoyed a successful career at San Antonio Steel Company and at MJ Boyle General Contractors. The birth of his daughter Neely was the highlight of his life and she will always be daddy's little girl - he was absolutely her hero. He was a member of many organizations including the Texas A&M Association of Former Students where he was an Endowed Member, the San Antonio A&M Club, the Association of General Contractors, Castle Hills First Baptist Church, and the First Baptist School Board where he served as a Trustee. He was also a member of Oak Hills Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. Elliot leaves behind numerous family members, colleagues and friends who loved him and are devastated by this loss. He leaves a treasured living legacy as Elliot is survived by his wife Alison Neely Brown; his daughter Neely Kristian Brown; mother Huberta "Huie" Brown of Corpus Christi; father and his wife JSam and Judy Brown of Bergheim; brothers Crawford Brown and wife Jodi, Robert Brown and wife Sara and Jack Brown all of Corpus Christi; mother and father-in-law L. "Chaz" and Tricia Neely, brothers-in-law L. C. "Trey" Neely and Bradford Neely and wife Noelle of New Braunfels; nieces and nephew Travis Brown, Jessica Brown, Katy Brown, Lexi Neely, Taylor Neely and Lorelei Neely; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Services The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 9:00 PM Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Church services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, September 19, 2008 at Castle Hills First Baptist Church. Private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contirbutions may be made to the Texas A & M Foundation.
