Timothy Milven Long, passed away Oct 27th, 2024, after a long fight with prostate cancer. He was born March 26th, 1941, in Jacksonville, Florida to Lewis and Sarah Long. He was the first of 3 children in the family. The family moved from Florida to Pennsylvania then to Texas. Tim, as everyone called him, attended Bellaire High School where he played football and rode bulls. His favorite memories of that time he worked for the Drains at the Pony Park on Fondren Rd. and riding his horse to school. After high school, Tim joined the Army and was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany. There he met and married Inge. They started their family and shortly moved back to Ft. Worth. Texas. Tim transferred to the Air Force and was stationed at Brooks Air Force Base and was Superintendent of the Lab Animal Specialist Course the School of Aerospace Medicine. He did a tour of SE Asia during the Vietnam war. He was later stationed back in Germany at Bitburg AFB and then home to Texas at Lackland AFB. During his years at Lackland he also taught night classes at San Antonio College, teaching, Kennel Design, Exotic and Lab Animal Care and Pharmacology. He retired from the Air Force in 1983. This is also when he became a member of the Valley Hi Masonic Lodge. He was a dedicated member and had a lifetime membership. He began his second career working for the Texas Department of Health in Uvalde, Tx as a Zoonosis Specialist, and later transferred to Environmental Health. He retired again in 2002. Not one to sit around and do nothing, he started his own company Long Environmental Services, providing health and safety inspections for foster homes and residential facilities. He also continued to volunteer at the Lodge and loved helping at the annual circus event. Of his many jobs and professions, he would always say the job of Papa to his many grandchildren was his favorite. He was a regular at St. Matthews and Central Catholic sports events cheering on his grandchildren and their teammates. When he could, he would visit St Albans or Nolan Catholic HS to see a theater production or a Cheer event for his grandchildren in Arlington. Tim was a passionate cook; he was Cook for The Valley Hi Lodge and his Christmas Cookie Tins (the chocolate biscotti – IYKYK) were a sought after treat for his neighbors and family. He loved time in the kitchen, teaching his kids and grandkids all his cooking secrets. He is survived by his wife, Inge, Children and Spouses: Elke and Stan of Arlington and Claudia and Ron of Helotes. His Siblings: Linda and Jerry of Killeen and Carl and Peggy of Beaumont. His Grandchildren and Spouses: Christopher of San Jose, CA., Sarah of Ft Worth, Dante and Andrea of Port St. Lucie, FL , Kirsti and Matt of Houston, Keely, Ashli and Ronnie of San Antonio. His Greatgrandbaby Eli of Port St. Lucie, FL and his greatgrandchildren Addi, Farrah and Tyler of San Antonio. He is dearly loved and will be missed beyond measure. We love you Papa!!

March 26, 1941 - October 27, 2024
