Tommy James Soto was called home by his creator August 24, 2022, at the age of 22. He was born on July 20, 2000, in San Antonio, Texas. Tommy is survived by his parents April Soto, Ethan Pena, brother Kaleb Soto, grandparents Tom and Ruth Soto, grandparents Jimmy and Grace Pena, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his tio Tommy Soto Jr., great-grandmother Mary Soto, great-grandmother Ada Crawford and his tia Angie Soto. Tommy James, TJ, was a beautiful baby. He was born 10 pounds with a head full of black hair. As a child TJ could be found digging in the dirt or watching Bob the Builder. He would spend hours lining up his Papa's tools or the cans in his Nana's cupboards. When he was 4 years old TJ played soccer. The coach named him "steamroller" because he plowed over all the kids. TJ was the type of child that would do things on his own time. He was stubborn, headstrong, loving, kind, and gentle. Throughout his childhood TJ loved to work outside, go fishing and play next door with David and John Paul. When TJ was 10 years old his little brother Kaleb was born. TJ doded on his brother and took his responsibilities and duties very serious. TJ showered his Brother Bear with kisses and affection. In 5th grade TJ was introduced to the violin, that was when his love of music blossomed. His love of music continued to grow in middle school. He joined the orchestra and played violin and double bass. TJ came out of his shell during that time when he joined Mr. Tejeda's theater arts class, he enjoyed performing on stage. The summer before freshman year TJ joined the ROTC program at Brackenridge high school. With the help and guidance of Major Ladson, Sergeant Major McAllister, Sergeant First Class Paige; TJ learned responsibility, leadership, and confidence. It was within the ROTC program that TJ would make lifelong friendships. TJ would spend most of his high school years with Vincent, Margarito, Christian, Adele, Luis, Ricky, Gabby, and so many more close friends. TJ enjoyed his time with his family, whether it was spending the night at his Nana and Papa's house or playing games with his parents and little brother or fishing at his grandparents’ house in Rockport. T J's personality and laugh could fill any room. He always had deep insightful conversations as well as cracking a joke and making people around him happy. After graduation TJ went straight to work. He found a job at Mastec and later at Global Optics. It was there at those two jobs he got to play in the dirt and drive big trucks just like he always wanted. TJ grew to be the type of man that everybody wanted on their side. He was always one phone call away and would drop anything to help a friend in need. TJ was the definition of a true Texas boy. He loved his truck, his boots, sweet tea, good food and he had a pure love for his family and friends. TJ believed in hard work, but he always took the time to enjoy the little things in life. When he wasn't elbow deep in grease and oil you could find him driving his truck down a country road exploring nature's beauty. Tommy James Soto had had a larger-than-life personality and he most definitely left his mark in our lives and the lives of everyone he knew. PALM HEIGHTS MORTUARY 3711 S.
