Trina Lynn Barnes, born August 11, 1958, in Niagara Falls, New York, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on September 26, 2025, surrounded by her family’s love. The daughter of John and Mary Ann Pavlisin, Trina grew up with a quiet resilience that shaped her life with strength, compassion, and faith. A proud veteran, she served her country in the United States Army, where she met the love of her life, Joe Barnes. Together they built a marriage rooted in faith and family, instilling in their children the values of love, loyalty, and perseverance. Joe preceded her in death, but their union remains a lasting example of devotion and strength. After her military service, Trina continued her dedication through civil service, working in Internal Review as an account auditor until retirement. With a sharp eye for detail and a strong commitment to excellence, nothing escaped her careful review. She pursued her bachelor’s degree while working full time and raising a family, proving that with God all things are possible. Her diligence and perseverance remain an enduring legacy. Although her service and work reflected her dedication, Trina’s greatest legacy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose joy was found in time spent with loved ones. She delighted in sharing coffee topped with whipped cream in her backyard, singing and dancing to music, feeding the birds that visited her garden, and cherishing moments of laughter and togetherness. Her faith anchored her life. Deeply devoted to God, she lived with humility, grace, and trust in His promises. She nurtured not only her family’s spiritual walk but also the beauty of God’s house through her gift for gardening. Every bloom she tended reflected her devotion. Trina will be remembered for her heart for people. She had the rare gift of making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. Her kindness, generosity, and attentiveness left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She is survived by her four children, Cheriette (Garry) Murphy, Josh (Tylane) Barnes, Tony (Elsie) Barnes, and Joette (Robert) Watkins; and ten grandchildren: Braelin, Joshua, Brianna, David, Aurianna, Addyette, Eva, Lillian, Anderson, and Joe. Her love also lives on through her great-grandchildren, Everly and Josiah. She is also survived by her brother Adam Pavlisin and Constance (Connie) Paul. Her presence was a gift, her love a covering, her resilience inspiring. She is now joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Joe, in the arms of the Savior they both served. Though we grieve her passing, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the many seeds of faith and love she planted. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 9th, 2025 at 11am at New Covenant Baptist Church. Burial will be held at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery at 1:30pm. The family invites all who knew and loved Trina to join in honoring her remarkable life.
