Victoria T. Guerra, a faithful child of God, was called home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on March 23, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas to Sacarias and Concepcion Trevino. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Joe T. Guerra and her husband Joe A. Guerra with whom she shared her life for 60 years. She is survived by her six children, Lupe (Carmen), Ruben (Rachel), Maria, Steven (Irma), Ester and Carmen (Jesse); 9 grandchildren, Ruben Jr., Kathleen, Jay Ruben, Michael, Vanessa, Joe Raymond, Brian, Jesse and Monique; and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Raymond, Henry and Natalia; nieces Anna and Oralia along with numerous extended family members and friends. Victoria married Joe A. Guerra in San Antonio, Texas on February 17, 1951. Together they raised 7 children and 2 nieces. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, and child of God. Victoria enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her siblings. She was an exceptional cook and baker and showed her love through the foods she learned to make and create from her parents and grandparents. Victoria, her siblings, and aunts assisted her mother Concepcion in making thousands of tamales annually. Governor and then President Lyndon B. Johnson sent staff to pick up thousands of these to present at State and Presidential Texas themed dinners. In addition to raising her children and living a life of service, Victoria worked in the service industry at Casa Rio for over 4 decades and then upon retirement for 10 years at Gillette Elementary in Harlandale ISD. She was immensely proud of her work-life family and was steadfast and dedicated to each over her 50+ years of work. The family would like to recognize Victoria’s lifelong friends and partners in crime, Yolanda, Aunt Dolores, and Aunt Natalia. Yolanda and Victoria worked together for over 35 years, contemplated, and discussed life’s challenges, and prayed together for over 50 years. Aunt Dolores and Aunt Natalia both were wonderful supportive family members, cherished friends, and confidants. The family extends their deepest appreciation and gratitude for all who are available to attend the celebration of Victoria’s life. The celebration of life service will be held at Mission Park South on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Victoria’s favorite charitable organization, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (memorial donations and gifts – www.stjude.org). In the 1950s, this organization assisted the family in the care and health services Joe Jr received in his brief time on earth.
