Virginia M. (Kotara) Tudyk went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at the age of 81 years. She was born on Dec. 7, 1943, in Cestohowa, Texas, to Leon and Helen (Biela) Kotara. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Charles A. Tudyk Sr., and her daughter, Linnette Clara Tudyk. Virginia was the last of the Kotara’s family of 12 children. Her family siblings, Proxey Smith, Catherine Krawitz, Tillie Titzman, Annie Pruske, Helen Pruske, Leonard Kotara, Jessie Kotara, Lucian Kotara, Victor Kotara, Emil Kotara, and Clement Kotara are in heaven to join her. Virginia is survived by her children, Sharon Wiatrek (Dominic) of San Antonio, Brenda Wiatrek (Ronnie) of San Antonio, and Charlie Tudyk Jr. (Amanda) of New Braunfels; grandchildren Amanda Dawn Rochester (Charlie), DJ Wiatrek (Becky), Aiden Tudyk, Gavin Tudyk, and Justin Escobedo; and five great-grandchildren. Virginia had a strong Catholic faith. She believed in angels and the power of prayers. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, bingo, dominos, crafting, gatherings of family and friends, and weekly hair salon appointments with her signature hair style. She always had a big heart for people, always caring and helping everyone. The family will miss her soup with homemade roll-out noodles every Sunday. The family would like to thank everyone at Prairie Meadows Nursing home in Floresville and Elara Hospice Services for their generosity and great care. A special thank-you to Lena and Casper Diaz for taking in Virginia’s beloved chihuahua dog, Precious. Virginia suffered with dementia for five years. She was a resident of San Antonio, and a stay-at-home mother for her four children, as well as a babysitter for family and friends, until all her children graduated from high school. She then went to work for San Antonio Independent School District for 25 years as cafeteria manager at Charles C. Ball Elementary School. She also operated and co-owned the Shady Acres Tavern for 30 years. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 9:30-10 a.m., in Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Saint Hedwig. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m., and a funeral Mass will follow in the church. Interment will follow the Mass in Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in St. Hedwig. After burial, a memorial service with a luncheon reception will be held in St. John Paul II Center parish hall at the church.
