Obituary for Walter Earl Isles Hart, Sr. Walter ( Wally) 87, went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on April 7, 2026. Wally was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on October 15, 1938. He was the second of six children born to Willword and Emerita Hart. He graduated from Calabar High School. He later attended Gordon college in New York for one year of Bible training. He then received his degree in business from New York College. On June 28, 1962 he married the love of his life Leonides ( Joni) who preceded him in death. He was a father to three children: Walter Jr. ( deceased), Michele Eason (Rick) and Warren. He had 5 grandchildren: Alexis ( Ryan), Andre, Ethan, Jacob and Griffin and two great-grand children (Elias, Rianna). Wally is survived by his younger sisters Grace and Faith ( Curtis). He was involved with the Brethren church since birth. As a young man, he gave his heart to the Lord. He was a member of the Elim Assembly in Jamaica and served in many capacities there. In 1978, he relocated his family to the United States. In San Antonio, he began to fellowship with the then Cheryl Bible Chapel ( now San Antonio Bible Chapel). He served faithfully as an elder over the last 46 years. He was a business man who operated a hardware and lumber family business -Hart’s Enterprise Ltd in Jamaica. He was involved with the Christian Business Men Connection ministry for many years. In the 80’s and into the mid 90’s he owned the J.C. Jones Paint and wallpaper store in San Antonio. Upon retiring, he kept himself busy by serving others in his family and church. He had a love for cars and was a natural mechanic. He would work on cars of all family members. He assisted numerous people to purchase or sell their vehicles “for a good price.” He served others unreservedly. He had an unquenchable love for the word of God. He delivered countless sermons over the decades. His favorite topic to preach on was undoubtedly the last days and the promise of heaven. It has been said that one could set their clock by his unwavering attendance at all services held at church. He enjoyed playing the piano although he was not able to read music. He loved to sing the old hymns and his strong and melodious voice was very distinct even amidst the congregation. He was a loving husband and father. He was a wise man who would share counsel with many folks in various topics: marriage, education, investing, ministry etc. He was a fervent prayer warrior especially for his family and friends. After his wife’s passing in 2004, he became heavily involved with the operations of the Elim Basic School in Kingston, Jamaica. He never tired of speaking about the school or asking for contributions to the ministry that was close to his heart. In his latter years, he resided with his beloved niece Ingrid. He took good care of her. She in turn took excellent care of him providing him Jamaican cuisine until he was called home. He was very grateful for that special relationship. He was visibly excited when he spoke about heaven in the last few years. He had a longing to see those streets of gold. He desired nothing more than to finish his race well. Whatever he did in the last few years of his life was aimed at that goal. He will be dearly missed by his San Antonio family as well as many other close relatives and friends who loved him dearly. He would often say “ the best is yet to come!” And on April 7th, 2026 the best arrived for him when the Lord called him Home. He yearned for all men to know and love his Savior so that one day they too would experience walking on streets of gold. Visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, May 6th 6:00-8:00 at the Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemetery- DOMINION - 20900 IH 10 West, San Antonio, TX 78257. Funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 7th at the location listed above. In lieu of flowers he would like donations be made to his beloved Elim Basic School.
