William Bill A. Kotylo was born November 13, 1939 and passed away Monday, October 28, 2013. He was a native Texan born and raised in San Antonio where he attended Central Catholic High School. He graduated from Texas A & M in 1961 with a degree in Business Administration. While at A & M he was an active member of the Corp, the Freshman Drill Team, and received the Distinguished Military Student Award. It was the beginning of his senior year that he married the love of his life, Janice Welch. His career began with the Allen Parker Co. in 1962 in San Antonio where he rose quickly to Executive Vice President. After several years Jan and Bill moved to Houston working for Standard Casualty. Eventually they transferred to New Braunfels in 1981 where he became president of the company. He loved traveling and playing golf with his many golfing buddies. He will be remembered by his greeting of "Hello Compadre or Skipper." Bill loved the community and could always be seen volunteering and serving in numerous arenas: As a leader in Bible Study Fellowship, New Braunfels Rotary Club, Citizens Police Alumni, Past Chair of the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, A & M Former Student Association, President of the Gruene Homeowner's Association for several years, and served on the Board of Adjustments and many other city boards and committees. He was also a Deacon at Oakwood Baptist Church and was quick to invite anyone to a Sunday service. He will be missed by those he stood beside in the community working tirelessly on charity projects. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Jan Kotylo. Son and daughter-in-law Kirk and Marcia Kotylo, three grandchildren, Shelby, Reagan, and Colton Kotylo. One sister and brother-in-law Diana and Don Fleri of Arizona. He will be truly missed by four exchange daughters who are like part of the family, Fiona in England, Marianna in South Africa, Lori in Austin, and Julie in Mansfield, TX. He is best known for his friendliness, that Aggie spirit, generosity, his leadership abilities, work ethic and most of all his faith. He used his illness as an outreach to share Christ with friends and medical staff. He truly made a difference in his lifetime. Bill and the family wish to thank all the many faithful friends and family for their support during this journey. They would like to extend special gratitude to the staff at New Braunfels Regional Rehabilitation Hospital and Hope Hospice for their excellent care.
