Martin William P. Bill Martin was born on June 6, 1930 in Hutto, TX. to Jennie Mary Bowden and Alexander Martin, Sr. went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2006. He graduated from Hut to High School in 1947, After working on the family farm, Bill moved to San Antonio and started his career in the water works industry .He began working for San Antonio Machine & Supply Company SAMSCO in 1950. He served in the US Army from 1951 until 1953 and was stationed in California and Okinawa. Upon discharge Bill returned to SAMSCO, working there until 1968 when Crane Supply Company purchased the SAMSCO pump department. Bill worked for Crane Supply until the pump division was bought out and became Pump Movers Incorporated PMI, of which he was part owner. He retired in 2002. Bill was well known and highly regarded as an expert in his field and maintained active membership in the American Waterworks Association as well as several other professional organizations. Bill Married Anne Jacqueline Wallace on March 27, 1954 and, together, they lovingly raised three children: Mary Ellen Martin Davis, James Alexander Martin and Nancy Elaine Martin Phillips. Bill was truly a "renaissance" man, dabbling in woodworking, dominoes, gardening and cooking. He was a member of the Guys and Dolls Square Dance Club and after retirement, volunteered at the San Antonio International Airport and the Institute of Texan Culture. He was passionate about Texas, his family and his friends. His smile, humor, kind heart and gregarious personality will be missed by all. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Alex Martin, Jr. and Jean Swindoll Martin; Sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Ann Martin and Dauphin Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Anne; Children, Mary Ellen Davis and husband Jeff, Jim Martin and wife Sharon, Nancy Phillips and husband Gary; Grandchildren, Byron Davis, Justin Davis, Steven Davis, Sarah Davis, Kendall Phillips and Hayden Phillips; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
