Wylie “Scooter” Robertson Phillips, Jr. age 79, passed away on April 2, 2023 peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, and an abundance of love. Wylie was born on August 24, 1943 to Ann Carey Hanover and Wylie R. Phillips in San Diego, Ca. Wylie served in the Army from 1964-1968 earning the rank of Staff Sergeant and serving in Iran during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he graduated with honors from Tulsa University in 1972 with a Petroleum Engineering degree. His petroleum engineering degree led to a fruitful career in the oilfield. Many of his friends and adventures can be tied to his work. He lived all over the world, including Singapore, North Africa, The Netherlands, and South America. In the early 90’s, he worked as a Drilling Superintendent for Amoco’s Worldwide Exploration Business Unit. During that time, he oversaw operations in the North Sea, Pakistan, Congo, Somalia, Trinidad and Malta. He married Darya “Dasha” Jitkoff on July 26, 1975 in Houston, Texas. Wylie and Dasha were happily married for 47 years. They were always the happiest when they were with each other. He took his final breath with the love of his life by his side. Throughout his life, Wylie enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, hunting, fishing, and being with friends. Some of his best times were with Fitz and Sasha at Fitz’s ranch in North Texas or with Charlie Holt working on the ranch here in the Hill Country. He loved the outdoors, camaraderie, and mischief that came with it. As the days and years went on, grandkids Jake and Kieran gave him no greater joy. He loved to watch Kieran play sports, and was always on the sideline as his biggest fan. Undoubtedly, he will continue to watch over Kieran and cheer him on from up above. Wylie taught us many things. His honor, love, friendship, and sense of humor held strong until the end. His heart was big and always open. He knew how to let little things go, and focus on what was important, loving his family. He was a selfless man, who always put the wellbeing of others before his own. He was a lover, a protector, and the patriarch of our family who will be dearly missed. Wylie is survived by his wife Dasha, daughter Nancy, son Andrew, daughter-in-law Kristin, grandson Kieran, sister Peggy, brother Tom and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Wylie, along with his grandson Jacob Andrew Phillips. The Phillips Family would like to thank Hospice care and caretakers for sharing their love to help ease the burden of the loss.
