Yolanda D. Santos, age 67, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 after a month-long battle with COVID-19 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on July 21, 1953 to Josefina Martinez and Guillermo Garcia. She married her high school sweetheart, Juan G. Santos on March 25, 1972. They celebrated 48 wonderful years of marriage. Yolanda was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was always cheerful and had a smile on her face. Yolanda was an outgoing person who loved to go to Fiesta and visit with friends. She always had a helping hand for anyone in need. For over 32 years, Yolanda worked for Edgewood ISD as a bus driver. She retired in 2006 and went back to work for them soon after. She then transferred to South San ISD as a bus driver. Yolanda loved children and always had little trinkets or snacks to give out to her students on special occasions. She was affectionately known as the Mickey Mouse Lady, because of her love for all things Mickey Mouse. She loved dressing up for Holidays and special occasions in her Mickey Mouse outfits. She always had a kind word for anyone who needed it and made everyone feel like family. Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents Josefina and Guillermo and two brothers Manuel and Santiago. She is survived by her husband, Juan G. Santos; her children, Margaret and Alejandro Trejo, Juan G. Santos Jr, Rozanna D. Santos and Roxanna and Marco Pena Jr; her grandchildren, Kennon John Perez (KJ), Kristina Perez, Alexis Trejo, Christine Alvarez, Lisa Santos, Jenna Santos, Juan G. Santos III (JB), Jeremy Santos, Destiny Santos, Jasmine Pena, and Hailey Pena; her great-grandchildren, Mari, Ryan, and Riley Felan and Elena Santos. Her siblings Gloria, Willie and Paul. Everyone was loved and touched deeply by Yolanda. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time. We invite you join us virtually on Friday, August 28th at 9 am to celebrate Yolanda’s life. The funeral service will be attended by immediate family members only. The family will hold an in person memorial service once large gatherings are allowed.
