    Connie Ballarta Silva

    May 11, 1953 - February 14, 2022

Connie Silva, 68, of San Antonio, Texas, passed while surrounded by her loved ones on February 14, 2022, Valentine’s Day. On the day that we celebrate love, our family’s heart was called to her heavenly home. Connie was born to Richard and Hortencia Ballarta in San Antonio, Texas. There, she met and married her one true love, Eddie Silva. Together they had four children: Connie Jean, Brian, Eric, and Christopher. Connie shared her life and love with Eddie for 52 years. She supported her husband and family while serving in the silent ranks as a US Air Force spouse for 24 of those years. She honorably followed her husband in his duties to Ft Hood, Dyess AFB, Bergstrom AFB, and as far as West Germany. Connie loved traveling; however, her home was always San Antonio. They returned home after Eddie retired from the military. She cherished her role as mother and matriarch of her family. In this influencing role, she shared unconditional love, the importance of reading and education, and the joys of being surrounded with loved ones. She took an active role in the education of both her children and grandchildren to ensure a living legacy of her passion for reading and knowledge. She would spend her days reading with children, actively participating in school activities, and taking the children on adventures to Sea World or the local library. Connie and Eddie celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary by being married in the Catholic Church at San Fernando Cathedral in 2021—a final tribute to their everlasting love and a symbolic blessing to the life and legacy they had forged together in that time. Connie is survived by her dedicated husband, Eddie Silva; daughter, Connie Ramos, and her husband, Reuben Ramos; sons, Brian Silva; Eric Silva and his wife, Marilyn Silva; and Christopher Silva and his wife, Cristina Silva. She is also survived by her four sisters, Vera Ballarta, Rosario Cano, Maria Esparza, and Teresa Ballarta; thirteen grandchildren; as well as a host of sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, 6:00 p.m., at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North at 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr. Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral procession will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from Mission Park Funeral Chapels North on Cherry Ridge Dr.. Funeral mass will take place at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Celebration of Life will follow at the American Legion, Post 2 at 3518 Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio, TX 78201.
