Antonio R. Martinez passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on August 29, 2023, shortly after celebrating his 80th Birthday. Antonio was one of ten children born on July 23, 1943, in Longhorn, Texas, to Maria De La Luz Rodriguez and Sebastian S. Martinez. Antonio was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. James The Apostle Catholic Church. Antonio was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from Kelly Air Force Base after thirty-eight years of service. Antonio’s greatest pleasures in life were serving his country and community (family, church, and friends). Especially making time for his family and being a wonderful grandpa to his grandchildren. Antonio always gave from the heart and was loved by all. He will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Sebastian S. Martinez and Maria De La Luz Rodriguez. He is also preceded in death by siblings; (brothers) Thomas, Julian, Eudaldo, Eugenio Martinez and (sisters) Guadalupe Martinez and Juanita Maldonado. He is survived by his daughter, Maribel Ann Hernandez (Tim), sons, Michael Anthony Martinez (Elizabeth), Tony Roland Martinez (Sylvia), sister Elvira Gonzales (Tino), brothers, Pete R. Martinez (Aurora) and Paul R. Martinez, grandson, Giovanni Dante Martinez, two granddaughters Alexandra Garay-Lopez and Brooke Lacy Martinez. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge the following individuals with great appreciation for serving with compassion and much love in caring for Antonio R. Martinez, aka “Mr. T”, “Tony”, “Mr. Antonio”, and “Mr. Martinez”. Special Thank you to Amada Senior Care for selecting Christy Mena as one of Antonio’s caregivers. Much gratitude for our wonderful (Sister In-Law) Elizabeth Morales. Both were amazing, loving and served with all their heart as they cared for Antonio. Mil Gracias to Christus VNA Home Health Care, Palliative Care, and Hospice “Dream Team”. Antonio was blessed to have numerous caring Doctors, Nurses, Therapists, and Wound Care Team. Burial Services Tuesday, September 19th - Viewing at 5:00pm & Rosary at 6:00pm - St. James The Apostle Catholic Church Wednesday, September 20th- Holy Mass at 10:00 am Interment 11:30 @ Fort Sam National Cemetery
