Maria Nieto Esquivel August 16, 1939 – February 20, 2022 Maria Nieto Esquivel was born on August 16, 1939 and entered into eternal life on February 20, 2022 at the age of 82. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benigno and Antonia Nieto. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ramiro Esquivel. Maria was and still is the love of Ramiro’s life. They married in 1962 – Maria was 23 and Ramiro was 24. Together they raised four children: Ramiro Esquivel, Jr., Diana E. Evans (John), Anna Villarreal (Gus) and Alberto Esquivel (Christina). She was blessed with nine grandchildren whom she was very proud of: George B. Leal, Jr. (Amy), Veronica Leal, Ramiro Esquivel III (Norma), Anissa Esquivel, Valerie Villarreal, Daphne Villarreal, Wesley Villarreal, Abraham Esquivel and Olivia Esquivel. She was also blessed with six great grandchildren: Ramiro Esquivel IV, Caleb Esquivel, Charlie Padilla, Fabian, Amarie and Desire. She is also survived by one brother and three sisters. Maria was born and raised in Laredo, TX and moved to San Antonio after her marriage to Ramiro. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, then worked for Kobel Enterprise as a supervisor for 12 years. Maria was a hardworking woman. If you ever passed by her home, chances are you would see her working on her yard. But she was always willing to stop to chat! She had a wonderful sense of humor. When you visited her, you would leave with a snack or full belly because she would feed you. She will be remembered as a loving wife and loving mother who was dedicated to her family. She will be greatly missed. “There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.” The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has prayed, brought meals, called and visited the family during this difficult time. A visitation will be held at Simplicity Funeral Home on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10 am. A rosary will be recited at 11 am and a Chapel Service will begin at noon. An interment will follow in procession to Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. The family welcomes you to come celebrate the beautiful life of Maria N. Esquivel.
