Tributes

Rosie C. Turrietta was born on August 6, 1924 and passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on July 20, 2015, at the age of 90. Known by many as "the San Antonio Rose" she will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her faith in God, her fun adventurous spirit, and her love of life. She cherished 72 years of marriage to her husband, WWII Veteran, Sisto Turrietta, with whom she traveled the world. Together they awed crowds with their dance moves, were sport spectators, and race track/BINGO/casino enthusiasts. Rosie, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother devoted much of her time to her family and church. Her religious activities included serving as a Legion of Mary officer and as a catechism teacher. Early in her life she was a Frito Lay scribe and later an esteemed AVON lady and an election poll worker. She was overwhelmingly loving, generous, kind, and accepting of all. Rosie is preceded in death by her parents Julio and Otila Castillo, her sisters Amelia Moreno, Consuelo Hernandez, Janie Rodriguez, Alicia Hernandez, and brothers Eran Castillo and Paul Castillo. Rosie is survived by her husband Sisto Turrietta; her brother-in-law Feliciano Rodriguez; her daughters Mary Alice Rodriguez, Sylvia Ann Turrietta, Roselyn Carol Cuellar; her son-in-laws Rudy Ross Cuellar and Alex Rodriguez; her much loved grandchildren Ian Garcia, Dave Leon Carmona, Yvette Ruiz, Yvonne Rose Sanchez, Addison Garcia, Crystal-Rose Cuellar, and Rudy Cisto Cuellar; Matthew Rodriguez and several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many others in her extended families throughout Texas, New Mexico, and California. Special thanks to the Rockingham VNA and Christus Santa Rosa Hospice for all their support. Rosie especially treasured the relationships that she formed with Linda and Michelle. Visitation will be available Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm and Sunday, July 26 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at Alamo Funeral Home. Rosary will be held Sunday, July 26 at 7:00 pm at Alamo Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held Monday, July 27 at 8:45 am at Holy Name Catholic Church procession to depart Alamo Funeral Home at 8:15 am. Burial will follow at 10:15 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
