Teresa (Figueroa) Cardenas

TERESA (FIGUEROA) CARDENAS 1942 – 2022 Teresita (Figueroa) Cardenas, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, with her daughters and friend, Irma, by her side. She was preceded in death by both parents, Elida Perez and Manuel Figueroa, and her grandparents, Celestino and Aurora Perez. She graduated from St. Gerard High School, BA from Incarnate Word College (now UIW), and MA from Texas A&M University, Kingsville. Her friends and family will miss her love and friendship. She was a gifted and caring elementary school teacher for 30 plus years with SAISD, was awarded the Who’s Who Among Americas Teachers during her teaching career. Teresa was a faithful catholic, who prayed the rosary every day, devoted her life to her family and loved going to their activities; she also enjoyed gardening, oil painting, and shopping. Teresa is survived by her brother, Manuel Figueroa; three children: Annette Cardenas, Louis J. Cardenas (Pam), and Christine Cardenas Bononcini; grandchildren: Quintin Bononcini (Haley), Bianca Bononcini (Carlos), Araceli Bononcini, Cristian Cardenas (Kayla), Trinity Cardenas, Ke Li Cardenas; one great-granddaughter, and the father of Teresa’s children, John L. Cardenas, as well as cousins, nieces, other family and friends. The family is very thankful to Irma L. Cardenas for taking care of Mom during her time of need. Rest in peace, Teresa. You are now with loved ones who passed before and in the embrace of our Lord in heaven, also with your furry friend, Oliver, who went a few days before you. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Feral Cat Association, San Antonio Humane Society, or Animal Defense League. Cremation arrangements through Brookehill Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, on Friday, May 6,2022, at 12 p.m.
