Thomas W. Lowrie (“Tom”, “Papa”) joined the everlasting arms of Jesus Christ December 30, 2021. Tom was born in Terrell Texas on September 24, 1927 to Thomas Lowrie and Sallie Howell Lowrie, the youngest of 3 children. After graduating from Hot Wells High School, Tom joined the Army and served during the Korean War. He was married for 66 years to the love of his life Kathryn (Kate) Ellis. After the Army he worked for United Gas for 17 years where he learned to weld, he then worked as a US Postal Carrier and retired after 30 years to enjoy his cattle, one of his greatest passions. Tom is remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Sallie and Tom W. Lowrie, his wife Kathryn Lowrie, and sister Louise Sanders. He is survived by his sister Katherine Heickman; children Nancy and James (Sherri), his beloved grandchildren and great grandsons: Lewis, Allison (Jon), Brooke, Claire, Bruce and Hudson. In addition to enjoying time with his family, Tom stayed very busy with other activities. For over 30 years Tom officiated high school football games. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, welding/building deer blinds and taking care of his cows. Tom enjoyed volunteering, especially as a basketball and baseball coach; he also volunteered for the Souvenir Committee where Tom was a Life time member of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition. Tom always enjoyed sharing his stories and keeping in touch with his family and friends. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo or a charity of your choice. Our family thanks goes out to numerous friends and extended family.
