Alvin Ray Williams, lovingly known as Ray Williams, was born on 29 September 1938 - making him 87 years old when he passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. He is survived by his loving family - wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. He married Georgia Ann Stoker on 5 September, 1970 in San Antonio, Texas. Son, Jeffery Ray Williams (Amber) and sons Simon Martin Williams and Adrian Peter Williams. Daughter, Shauna Denise Crandall (Sean) and Kaitlin Marie Crandall, Emilee Shaw Crandall Rae (husband - Carter, son - Camden), and son, Thomas Maeser Crandall. Daughter, Andrea Rene Cockrell and children Phillip Lawson Cockrell, Jr, Madison McGarity Cockrell, Benjamin Ray Cockrell. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Ray was the fourth of seven children born to Ernest Floyd Williams and Flora Elzona Phillips. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Melba Ruth, Ernest "Junior" Williams, Bill Williams and Terry Williams. He is survived by his sisters, Nelda Gibbons and Mary Alice Burer. He worked in the district lab for the Texas Department of Transportation for 39 ½ years, retired and started work the next week for Raba-Kistner Consulting in their lab. He worked there for the next 15 years. He loved the New York Yankees, the Green Bay Packers, Big Red & chocolate ice cream floats, any John Wayne movie, catfish dinners, Mexican food, playing dominoes and family camping at Bastrop State Park. But his greatest love was his family and just being with them. He devotedly served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for many years. He enjoyed being a Scoutmaster, a member of the stake high council, a stake Young Men Counselor, a High Priest Group Leader, a Houston Texas Temple worker, a San Antonio Texas Temple worker, San Antonio 2nd Ward Bishop for over 9 years, and a Temple and Family History Leader. Family, extended family and many friends (some traveling great distances) have visited and extended their love during his final days. Their lives have been blessed and enriched by knowing him and receiving his love and service. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and kindness as they celebrate Ray's life and mourn his passing.
