Our dear, sweet Mother passed away peacefully at 100 years of age, surrounded by family on Thursday, May 12, at 11:30 a.m. She was born in Mamey, Veracruz, Mexico to Luis Davila and Rebecca De Leon Davila. She became a U.S. citizen on February 21, 1978. She is preceded by her husband, Manuel T. Paiz and daughter, Margarita Meza (Luis). She is survived by her brother Alex Davila (Gloria) and her sister, Rebecca Garza. Her surviving children are: Rowena Lopez, Marcos Paiz (Terry), Yolanda Hogan (David), Maggie Garica (Juan), Lisa Paiz, Susan Merritt (Geoffrey), Joe Paiz, Gilberto Paiz (Lou Ann). She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She had an Associates Degree from San Antonio College in Early Childhood Education and owned a Day Care Center. Minta was active in the lives of her children and was president of the PTA at Brackenridge High School. She was physically active until the last year of her life and was still very alert up until the last days of her life. She loved to dance, plan parties, Bunco, playing cards, reading, crocheting and gardening. Minta loved all of her children and family dearly. She knew how to delight in the Lord and reflected His Light. We would like to extend a special thanks to her daughter Lisa Paiz, who was her primary care giver the last 8 months of her life. We would also like to thank Carli Pugh and Pastor Tom Martinez from Heart to Heart Hospice for their kind endeavors. The family also appreciates the care from her doctors, Dr. Manuel Martinez, Dr. Gabriel Botero and Dr. Mario Bustamante. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The family members serving as pallbearers are: Raul Lopez, Marcos Paiz Jr., Luis Meza, Michael Hogan, Julian Garcia, Donecio Morales, James Manuel Merritt, Brandon Paiz and Matthew Paiz. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Service will be on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Park South. Interment to take place on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, (shelter #4).
