Beatrice Katherine Gaines entered eternal rest on January 20, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on March 1, 1942, in Akron, Ohio, to Frank Ackley and Anna Marie (Sheridan) Dailey and passed away in the arms of her beloved daughter, Deb in Corpus Christi, TX. Bea was a truly special woman who lived a beautiful life filled with joy, love, and laughter. She had a way of touching everyone she met—once you knew her, she stayed in your heart forever. Her kindness, warmth, and playful spirit made the world a brighter place. Bea was a woman of deep faith, guided every day by her strong spiritual foundation. She carried an unwavering belief in God’s goodness and shared that faith generously with others. Whether through a comforting word, a gentle smile, or a helping hand, she always seemed to know exactly what someone needed in their hardest moments. She gave more than she ever had, and she did so with grace, humility, and a heart full of love. One of Bea’s greatest joys was crocheting. With remarkable skill and patience, she created countless handmade pieces that now live on in the homes and hearts of those she loved. Each stitch was a gift of her time, her creativity, and her affection. Her crocheted treasures are a reminder of her generosity and the beauty she brought into the world. Above all, Bea cherished being a mother. She found her greatest joy in raising her two daughters, loving them fiercely and unconditionally. Though her daughter Sandra (Sandi) Marie Bortz preceded her in death, Bea’s love for both her girls remained the center of her world. Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Leonard Gaines; and her daughter, Sandra (Sandi) Marie Bortz. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Deb Bortz; brothers, John Harvey Dailey and Joseph William Dailey; grandchildren, Stormy Evans, Marybeth Morris, Shelby Bibbs-Hutton, Zach Bibbs-Hutton, Marie Bueno-Villa, and Gabby Villa; great-grandchild, Willow Moore; numerous nieces, nephews & other loving family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. A funeral service will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park South.
