Deanna Serna, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt went to be with the Lord on Sunday March 16, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on September 7th, 1939, in Eagle Lake, TX. Deanna lovingly cared for her husband and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She often referred to her grandchildren as her ‘Magnificent Seven”. Her family was everything to her. Deanna was a devout Christian. She was a longtime member of Baptist Temple where she taught Sunday school. She was active in the church’s adult and youth ministries. She served on the Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas for several years. Deanna retired from Southwestern Bell after 31 years of service. During her time at Southwestern Bell, she was a loaned executive to the League of United Latin American Citizens. After her retirement she focused on her mission work in Mexico and Honduras. Deanna was passionate about helping those in need. Deanna is survived by her husband Arthur Serna. Her children Guy and Rhonda Serna, Monica and Mark Douglas, and Ilsa and Ernesto Garcia. Grandchildren, Matthew and Haley Garcia, Kate and Kristin Serna, Jacob and Shaneve Garcia, Joshua and Denisse Serna, Harrison Douglas, Nicholas Douglas, Abigail (Abby) Garcia and Alexandra Garza. Sisters, Gloria Villalobos, Yolanda Cuellar, Nancy Stasney and Lisa Willis. Brothers, Dan, Teddy, Mark, Manuel and Larry Muñoz along with numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents. Nicolas and Maria Theresa (Ruby) Muñoz, siblings, Adelina (Lina) Sanchez, Mary Lee Reyna, John (Nick) Muñoz, and Nick Muñoz. Deanna touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for her devotion to her faith, her love of reading, traveling and celebrating with her family and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held in Deanna's honor on Friday, March 28, 2025.
