Delma Louis Smith II, age 78, loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, entered into rest on March 28, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on July 23, 1946. Delma worked on small aircrafts as a mechanic in the Army to protect our country. He was given an honorable discharge from the Army after serving four years in Vietnam and a tour of duty in Italy. Later he dedicated 37 years of his life working at San Antonio Water System, retiring as a Field Supervisor after many years of faithful service. Here is where he met his wife of 46 years, Rose. They began their family and eventually moved to Elmendorf, TX where they have resided for the past 31 years together. He was a strong man who worked hard, loves his wife and children, and made sure they were always taken care of at all times, even now. Outside of work, Delma had a great love of being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and could never pass up an opportunity to head to the coast with his family. In his younger years he and his wife Rose belonged to the Lonestar Coonhunters Association and could be found traipsing through the hillside with their coon dogs. He especially enjoyed deer hunting and spent many winter months harvesting and making his own sausage with his best friend, Fred and his son, Sean. Always the reward from a good hunting trip. He particularly loved sharing all that he learned with his children and grandchildren. Football was also, without question, his favorite. He has seen every Super Bowl since the very first one and his son Sean is glad to carry on that tradition, along with many others they share. He lovingly taught his daughter Krista how to ride a bicycle. A gift they will both never forget. He would rise early every morning to take Mariah to school after a quick stop to stuff their face for breakfast. A loving memory they will always carry. Going out to eat with his family was always a special highlight in his life and a special treat for them. He provided many gifts in many ways. He is preceded in death by his father, Delma L. Smith I, his mother Mary L. Smith, his grandparents Martin and Bennie Smith, and two brothers Tommy and Danny Smith. He is survived by his beloved wife Rose Marie Smith and his children: Krista M. Smith, Sean K. Smith, Samantha J. Miller and son-in-law, Dean G. Miller, Delma Smith III, and his sisters: Judy Shelby and Sharon Harrison. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Mariah J. Flores-Smith, Kamryn Ruiz, Kaylah Ruiz, Emmalynn Grace Miller, David Levi Miller, Delma Smith IV, and Cristin Smith. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Brookehill Funeral Home from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm. The family will depart at 10:15 am on Monday, April 14, 2025, for a graveside service at 10:45 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at shelter #4.
