BRELAND Elaine Joyce Wolle Breland, age 74, of San Antonio, Texas, passed into the Heavenly Kingdom on April 27, 2010. She was born on May 16, 1935, in San Antonio to the late Vernon and Lillian Miller Wolle. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, San Antonio, in 1953 and married Homer Keller Breland on September 3, 1954. She traveled the next 18 years as an Air Force wife, living in Charleston, SC, Kansas City, MO, Colorado Springs, CO, Ramstein, Germany, and finally returning to San Antonio, TX. During this time, she regularly volunteered with the Red Cross as a dental assistant. Elaine was a life-long Lutheran: baptized, confirmed, and married at Zion Lutheran Church on Cincinnati Ave. in San Antonio, and a member of Hope Lutheran Church in San Antonio. She actively served in many roles in the church: Altar Guild member, Hannah Circle treasurer, Craft Guild member, Lutheran World Relief monitor, Lunch Bunch member, Meals on Wheels team member, and Bereavement Committee chair. Elaine is survived by her husband Homer Keller Breland of San Antonio; children, Lisa Gail Beyer husband, Herb of Hallettsville, Mark Alan Breland wife, Karin of Austin, and Lynn Renee Breland of San Antonio; grandchildren, Joshua Martin Beyer wife, Christina of San Antonio, Molly Grace Breland, and Keller Lee Breland, both of Austin; great-grandchild, Jordan Leah Beyer of San Antonio; brothers, Elridge Wolle wife, Atta Ray of Kerrville, and Charles Wolle wife, Barbara of Midland ; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless friends. Blessed with many gifts, Elaine never hesitated to share them with others. She followed an unswerving path of devout faith and great love for her family. She always stepped forward to help others and be a caring friend. She loved music and singing, was a voracious reader and word puzzle solver, and an excellent cook and baker. Her love of nature, especially plants and flowers, was evident to anyone who stepped into her yard – it was truly an oasis from the world. She was a very creative person and a "craft-y" lady. Her values and ethics were clear to anyone who knew her, and her children treasure them as their own. She had a delightful and sometimes sneaky sense of humor, and a way of bringing smiles to all she met. Much loved as wife, mother, sister, and friend, Elaine even touched the lives of those who cared for her in her final days. SERVICES Visitation for friends and family will be at Mission Park North Funeral Home on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Services will be conducted at Hope Lutheran Church, 5714 Callaghan Road, San Antonio, on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 11:30 AM, Pastors Bill Swantner and Herb Beyer officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Mutchler, Roger Wolle, Drew Wolle, Josh Beyer, Gary Simmang, and Dan Geisler. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Lutheran World Relief or Meals On Wheels.
