Elena Gonzalez Mermea

Elena Gonzalez Mermea gained her wings on August 24, 2026, at the age of 69 years young. She was born on June 7, 1957, and was the youngest of four sisters. Elena was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Eloisa Gonzalez Mermea; her father, Ismael R. Mermea; and her sister, Angelita “Angie” Gonzalez Mermea and most recently her niece Diana Davila Fernandez. Elena leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her sister, Anita M. Davila and her husband, Alfredo Davila; her sister, Lucia “Lucy” Gonzalez Mermea; her foster care providers, Jerry and Paula Walker; her half-sisters, Linda Mermea, Rosa Maria and her husband Arnold Lane, Elisa Mermea, Florence Mermea, Liliana Hurtado and her husband, Robert; and her half-brother, Ismael Jr. Mermea, and Hilda Mermea. Elena also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, whom Elena lovingly called her brothers and sisters. She held a special place in her heart for each of them, and the love, laughter, and memories they shared with her will forever be treasured. Her Walker Family Elena joined the Walker family on March 3, 2015, and from that day forward, she became a cherished and beloved part of their family. Her foster care providers, Jerry and Paula Sterling-Walker, opened their hearts and their home to Elena. Over the years, they shared countless memories, laughter, love, and special moments that will forever remain a part of her story. Elena was also blessed with a beautiful housemate and dear friend, Miss Patricia Riggs, who shared her home and many special moments with Elena throughout the years. Their friendship was a beautiful part of Elena’s life. The Walker family will forever remember Elena not simply as someone they cared for, but as family. She became a special part of their lives, and her laughter, kindness, joyful personality, and loving spirit will always hold a place in their hearts. We are also grateful for the love, care, and support Elena received through Yes I Can Residential, who was an important part of Elena’s life and care. Elena was a beautiful soul who brought joy wherever she went. She was always cheerful, full of laughter, and had a heart filled with love. She never hesitated to help others and was the kind of person who would give her time, energy, and love to anyone who needed it. Helping people was simply who Elena was. She was a hardworking lady who loved her family deeply and treasured the moments she shared with those around her. Elena had a special way of making people smile, and her laughter and loving spirit will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Elena had many things she loved dearly. She loved Selena, the color pink, and most of all, she loved dancing. These little pieces of her personality will forever remind her loved ones of the vibrant, joyful girl she was. Elena always loved and enjoyed SISTER DAY with her sister’s Lucy and Anita they enjoyed having lunch and laughing, watching movies dancing enjoyed each other’s visit and company. Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort knowing that Elena is no longer in pain. She has been welcomed into Heaven, surrounded by God’s love, and has finally found peace. Pallbearers will be Gilbert Davila, Christopher Davila, Randy Davila, Jerry Walker, Casey Walker and Isaac Blanchard. Heaven’s Gentle Call God saw her getting tired, The road was hard to climb, So He wrapped her in His loving arms And whispered, “Child, it’s time.” No more pain, no more sorrow, Just peace beyond the skies. A place where angels sing her name And love never says goodbye. She walked through life with open hands, She gave with heart and soul, Now Heaven holds her in its light, Completely healed, completely whole. Though we may cry and miss her face, We know she’s not alone. She rests in grace, she walks with God, She’s finally safe at Home. Elena may have gained her wings, but her love, laughter, kindness, and beautiful spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
